Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Chennai-based Redington India, an IT distributors in the country, have entered into a partnership to cater to the needs of the rapidly growing SME and home segment. According to the agreement, Redington would leverage the strength of its network of distributors and channel partners to distribute TCS' EX range of business applications, in addition to offering TCS logistic and infrastructure support.
EX is TCS' business accounting software that supports multi-company business accounting, ledgers, receivables and payables, invoicing and inventory whose costs ranges between Rs 3000- Rs 9000 according to the configuration.
This is the first time Redington is tying up with an Indian software vendor to distribute its products. "Usually, most of the Indian IT vendors create their own channels instead of taking the national distribution route. TCS products are high in quality and features, possess superior functionality, have a user-friendly interface and are appropriately priced. Since we have to engage with a lot of end-users, we are planning to develop exclusive sales force for the product and highly specialized channels catering to each segment of the product," said JS Kulkarni, CEO, Redington India Ltd.
TCS has integrated its existing channel partners for the EX range with Redington. TCS would get a license fee for the products while the Redington's channel partners would get the revenue for the services.
"Our aim is to bring IT to the masses. Our partnership with Redington would enable us to realize the full potential of EX through efficient distribution throughout India by leveraging the strengths of Redington's reach across the country. We hope to capture 20 percent of the possible potential of the SME segment," said S Venkatramani, Head-Products SBU,TCS.
