Tandberg Data announced at its recently held product launch of Tandberg M-Series that it plans to penetrate the vertical segment by focusing on the Western region of India. Ashok Kumar, Sales Director (South and West Asia) present at the occasion said, "Western and Southern region have been the profitable areas for Tandberg in India. Now it is seen that a lot of industries and banks headquarters are setting up in the western region. This is the reason we want to focus our energies in this region."

Tandberg has Ingram Micro as its national distributor and it also had 100 channel partners across the country. Here the role of Ingram is only restricted to stocking and selling. The vendor has partners called as 'Tandberg specialized storage partners' who are involved in deploying Tandberg storage solutions. There are training programs conducted on a regular basis for these partners.

Tandberg has 20 to 25 partners in the Western region and they also provide service support. "The failure rate of Tandberg products are low as in the 7000 single drives supplied last year only 50 had complaints. Therefore the failure rate is only up to 15 percent," claimed Kumar. Tandberg is also looking at tapping other vertical segments like cooperative banks, petrochemicals, insurance and other similar sectors where there is centralized back up and therefore storage solutions would be required.

Tandberg has Niraj Mandal as the Sales Manager for Western region in India. Channel Partners in Thane District feel left out
