Information storage products manufacturer Tandberg’s Asian subsidiary TD
Asia, has announced the appointment of Select Technologies as its authorized
distributor in India. With this, Tandberg aims to promote its backup storage
solutions across the metros and major cities of the country.
"Both Select Technologies and Tandberg share the core competence of
offering storage and security solutions and we decided to utilize this synergy,
" said Ashok Kumar. Sales Director (South and West Asia), Tandberg Data
(Asia) Pte Ltd.
Tandberg aims to expand its reach in India with this move. Indian accounts
for 40 percent of Tandberg’s business in the Asia Pacific region (excluding
Japan and Korea). The company earned $5.5 million in revenues from India and
plans to grow to $9.5 million this year. "While the Asia Pacific market
accounts of 12-13 percent share of Tandberg’s world market, India and China
are the biggest potential markets for us," said Raymond Kang Yong Guan, MD,

In April 2004, Tandberg signed up a strategic Value Adding Reseller agreement
with CMC. Tandberg offers professional tape information storage products based
on the SLR, DLT and LTO Utrium technology platforms. Th company offers secondary
storage products based on tape drives, autoloaders, libraries, media, high
performance storage solutions including Network Attached Storage (NAS).
