After six months of seeing a decline in the TV panel industry, the panel
price started to bounce back and the shipment of panels also set a new high
record in August. Forecasting Q4 as traditional peak season, panel makers
indicated that the force of shipment is still strong. The shipment of TV panel
can grow 20 percent and OA panel also has the chance to grow 10 to 20 percent quarterly.
Leading TFT-LCD TV brand, Sony planned to price down 32" TFT-LCD price from
$1,200 to $1,000. According to second tier brand price strategy, 32" TFT-LCD
TV price can be down to $700 per unit at the end of this year. The 37" and
42" will be priced at $1,900 and $1,990 respectively in order to trigger
sales volume in the peak season. Panel makers pointed that the shipment of TV
panel grew significantly in August. It is estimated that the growth will
continue in September and November. TV panel shipment is expected grow by 20 to
30 percent in Q4.
