Taiwan TFT-LCD TV sees the silver lining

Taiwan TFT-LCD TV shipment may see a growth of double digit in Q2 and Q3.
With the global slow growth of TFT-LCD TV in Q1, Taiwan TFT-LCD TV shipment also
encountered the slow-down and experienced growth in single digit. According to
MIC's statistics of Taiwan TFT-LCD TV in Q1, the total shipment reached 1.8
million units, registering an increase of 6.7 percent from the previous quarter.
In terms of size, the production of the 30-inch models has been stopped and
therefore the shipment declined 50 percent from previous quarter. The 37-inch
TFT-LCD TV grew doubly. The entire shipment of 32-inch, 37-inch, and 40-inch
accounted for 40 percent of the total shipment of TFT-LCD TV.

Taiwan sixth generation panel plants improved the quality and Korean seven
and 7.5-generation panel plants started the volume production. These two factors
are going to bring down the panel price, thus boosting the market demand. The
shipment of Q3 and Q4 is expected to reach 16 percent and 14 percent as to the
panel size moves from 32-inch to 40-inch. Taiwan TFT-LCD TV production value can
be increased this year.
