Sandeep Parasrampuria is
one of the new Directors |
Gul Phagwani, another Director with the executive council has
also decided to resign for personal reasons. Ketan Patel of Mumbai-based
Creative Peripherals will now handle this second Director's post. Meanwhile,
Pravin Dhoka of Ortek Computers will continue as the third Director.
The formal institution of the new directors will be carried out
only after a resolution to that effect is passed during TAIT's AGM.
Talking about why he decided to contest in the elections this
time, Parasrampuria said, "Many partners requested me to file my nomination
for the election. Best IT World has been a part of the channel community for a
long time now and we do our business mainly through channel partners. As
Director I will review what TAIT has done in the past and try to fill in
whatever gaps there might be."
TAIT has an Executive Council, which consists of seven directors
and three co-opted members. Of these seven posts for Directors, generally, two
contenders are selected through a general election, which is open for contesting
by all TAIT members.
Chetan Shah of Xpress Computers, who is also a member of the
TAIT Executive Council, explained, "TAIT sends out an AGM notice after
which the interested persons file their nominations. If anyone wishes to
withdraw, he can do so on or before the last date for withdrawal of
nominations."
