Enterprise mobility company Symbol Technologies Inc, expanded the MC3000
family of mobile computers by introducing a new pistol grip form factor.

Named the MC3090G, the new product's configuration offers customers in the
retail, transportation and logistics industries, besides those in government,
increased flexibility and versatility - allowing them to choose the form factor
most appropriate to their business.

Symbol also announced that it was set to refresh its MC3000 line of mobile
computers to include Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 and additional features such as
802.11b/g/a WLAN connectivity, as also enhanced audio capabilities.

Designed to increase efficiencies in scan-intensive operations, the MC3090G
incorporates an Intelâ XScaleä processor and is a compact, lightweight, highly
ergonomic, rugged mobile computer designed for businesses seeking to increase
productivity and flexibility from in-store to backroom data capture
applications.

End-users include retail workers who perform tasks such as inventory
replenishment, price audits, warehouse shipping/receiving and other
scan-intensive applications and workers who require a secure, rugged device in
the transportation and logistics, postal or such other industries.

The new MC3090 series of mobile computers is based on the Microsoft Windows
CE 5.0 computing platform. Select configurations also offer the popular rotating
scan head with left, right and front positions to allow the user to adjust the
scanning position. Along with four-foot drop specifications the MC3090 series
has an IP54-rated sealing for protection against water and dust.
