Further, with network speed increased by 50 percent, the new series can accommodate the requirements of the banking, finance, telecom and government sectors. The printers would cost from Rs 24,000 to Rs 1.4 lakh, based on the model.

"The new HP series comes with microprocessor based toner cartridges and a radio active feature that sends an email to the user automatically when the toner cartridge is about to get empty," said P Ramanathan, Managing Director, Surya Peripherals. The `intelligent' printers are best suited for the growing e-commerce industry.

The other advanced characteristics of the network printers include a wide range of Internet and wireless features like embedded web server and embedded virtual machine technologies that would facilitate scan-to-web functionality and faster infrared for wireless printing.
