Supertron comes to Chennai

A couple of years back, many leading vendors/distributors across the country
looked at the East for their expansion plans in the country. Now, eastern
companies are looking for expansion across the country and becoming national
players. Kolkata-based Supertron Electronics Ltd, a leading distributor in the
region, recently set up shop in Chennai to strengthen their presence in South
India. The company would also open an office in Cochin soon, which will give
them a full-fledged national player status. “We already have considerable
presence in North and West, besides East which is our headquarters. In South, we
were present only in Bangalore and Hyderabad and now, with the opening of the
Chennai office and with plans to expand into Cochin, Supertron will leverage on
its national network to become a Rs 200 crore organization by the end of this
fiscal,” said VK Bhandari, MD, Supertron Electronics.

The company at present addresses over 2,500 channel partners across the
country and has mainly two lines of business. In the distribution segment, it
deals with Transcend, Biostar and Seagate - all at a national level, while its
relationship with Acer is limited only to East and West for dealing with their
complete range of products. “However, we are allowed to sell their LCD and CRT
monitors in South, besides projectors.

Presently, we are focusing only on these four brands (Transcend, Biostar,
Sea-gate and Acer) in the market,” he explained.

Supertron also has its own products under Vintron and Supercomp brand names.
The comp-any got into Vintron PC distribution when it acquired Delhi-based
Vintron about two years back. Later, it stopped PC manufacturing under Supercomp
brand name and positioned it only as a component supplier.

“Today, we offer a wide range of products under Supercomp, which include
keyboards, speakers, cabinets, mouse and bluetooth devices, among others. Soon,
we will add webcams, wireless head-sets, complete range of TV tuner cards, MP3
players (audio only and audio and video) et al,” asserted Bhandari.
