Sundar Pichai becomes Google's new product chief

Sundar Pichai has been made the head of Google’s global products business. He is already in-charge of Android, Chrome and Google Applications. In his new role Pichai will now have purview over research, search,  maps, Google+, commerce and ad products and infrastructure. In addition, Pichai will continue to control business and operations in areas like Nest, Calico, Google X, corporate development, legal, finance and business.

Prior to joining Google, he has worked at Applied Materials and McKinsey & Co.

Born in Chennai in 1972, Pichai joined Google back in 2004. He graduated from IIT–Kharagpur and has also attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University.
