Sun appoints OrbiTech as e-integrator partner

Sun Microsystems has named OrbiTech Solutions, a software solutions company providing complete range of products and services for the financial institutions, as an e-integration partner aimed at helping Indian and international companies seize emerging e-business opportunities. 

OrbiTech will work with Sun to create and deliver cutting edge solutions based on Sun's Solaris platform, Java and other related technologies that will target the customers in the emerging banking and finance space. 

The Sun-OrbiTech relation had started in 1991, though informally with the implementation of the first online 24/7 banking system for Citibank on Unix platform. With this partnership OrbiTech has chosen Sun's Solaris Operating Environment as their preferred reference architecture platform, as well as their Unix platform of choice. OrbiTech has also committed to continue investing in building its expertise in Sun technology. In return, OrbiTech will receive technology and training from Sun.

The e-integration partner program is part of Sun iForce initiative, which consists of programs and alliances designed to provide customers with the relationships and expertise they need to get their business dotcommed quickly. 

OrbiTech, previously known as Citicorp Overseas Software Ltd (COSL), was the software development shop for all Citigroup entities. Currently OrbiTech provides products and developments services to various banks and financial institutions in addition to Citigroup businesses. It is the first Indian software company in the banking and finance sector to attain SEI CMM Level 5.
