Su-Kam, a
pioneer in secondary power generation, has come up with an alternate to
generators called 'Power on Wheels'. This new inverter is environment
friendly and cheaper in that it functions on battery and not diesel and its
battery is maintenance free. The inverters, which are available from five KVA to
100 KVA, were launched last month and will be comÂmercially available from next
month onwards. The comÂpany is currently in talks with their distributors and
dealers all across the country on how the product should be priced if it is
given out on rent. The 100 KVA, which is built on a Tata truck, costs between
eight to nine lakh and the five KVA, which is suitable for a wedding function,
costs 86,000 plus vehicle.
The larger inverters are
manufactured in the Gurgaon plant while the smaller ones are manufactured at the
company's plant in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. ConÂstruction work is also on for
another plant to manufacture maintenance free batteries in Baddi. The plant is
expected to be operation by next year.
