All Kerala IT Dealers Association (AKITDA) vouches for an improved coordination between dealers, distributors and the service centers in its recently held state council meeting.
The council, held once in six months, saw the participation from almost all the district committees whose reports where assessed and discussed for better performance. The state council appreciated the innovative business models adopted by district committees and also noted its smooth functioning.
Nevertheless, the distributors chose to boycott the meeting to the much dissapointment of the state council."Distributors and dealers of hardware and software products are inevitable parts of this IT business. Considering oneself as big or small are making a mistake. Dealers are the ones that drives the distribution business and vice versa. Everyone need to understand this fact," James Joseph, State President, AKITDA said as he opened the discussion forum. Only three distributors from Abacus, iBall and Global Infra attended the event.
It was noted by the council that the service quality of dealer network has depreciated to a large extent. AKITDA, in its following meeting with service center heads, has decided to implement a service warranty policy in place. The policy document has been shared with the service heads present at the event.
The association has also decided to create a centralized data base to sort out the service related issues. "Although the initiative seems simple now, it's quite a hectic process to put in place. However, we have take the first steps towards developing an environment of better coordination between the dealers and service centers and we hope this will gradually makes our businesses much smoother," said Toshy Mathew, District President, Eranakulam.
Following the boycott of the distributors of the state council meeting,
AKITDA has decided to stay aloof from any distributor's event in future.
Nearly 60 members from across Kerala attended the event. "We are looking forward to AKITDA state convention scheduled to happen in April 2014 at Kottayam, which will have the participation of every IT dealer from the state.
The state council has also decided to organize a cricket tournament for
AKITDA members and John G Kotara has been appointed as the coordinator for the tournament," Ajimon George, State General Secretary, said.
