S.Karthikeyan, president of the committee, said, "This is the first meeting and we have already got confirmation of participation from Kerala and Tamil Nadu. We are also in touch with associations in Kerala and Karnataka who are likely to revert us soon." He further explained that this association will not just act as a mother body of the associations in the South, but will act as a movement to create retail awareness among consumers and to prove what value they are creating compared to other competitors.

"We are 5000 partners across the zone and we are aware that every state has its own issues and this forum will be helping the partners sort out the issues with the respective regional heads of the vendors or zonal managers of any central government departments," Karthikeyan said adding that he has already started the ground work to create a strong foundation for the association.
When asked if the association would go beyond retailers to address the concerns of system integrators and others, Karthikeyan said that the partners in the respective states will come through a hierarchy and SIITA will definitely look at all the verticals.
