Sony India unveiled its new range of the next generation VAIO noteÂbooks which claims to hold the disÂtinction of being the world's slimmest, equipÂped with the thinnest LCD and designed with unique built in camera.
Speaking at the launching ceremony Kunimasa Suzuki, Deputy Senior GM, VAIO Business Division Sony CorÂporation, Tokyo, said that the VAIO notebook is a perÂfect blend of stylish, lightÂweight design and powerful audio, video and information technology capabilities to enable a comÂplete multi-media experience.
"VAIO has offered innoÂvative products of unique design with the latest AV-IT capability and technology focusing on every single detail from design to technoÂlogy," Suzuki said. The new technology VAIO or the Video and Audio Integrated Operation, would provide the user with an opportunity to watch movies, store music, pictures and share them with friends.
Mohit Parasher, GM Sales and Marketing, Sony India said that in the last 18 months the sales results were enÂcouÂraÂging. They have sold 105,000 digital video camÂeras, 45,000 digital still camÂeras, 65,000 digital personal audios and 140,000 meÂmory sticks. "We have sold around 4,000 noteÂbooks last year and are expecÂting more sales this year. The deÂmaÂnds for our proÂducts are increaÂsing and are expecting higher sales in the coming years," said Parasher.
Sony is planning to open up 100 outlets in 35 towns around the country by March 2006 to target more custoÂmers. The company's sales and distribution network comprises of over 4500 deaÂlers and distributors, 170 Sony World and Sony excluÂsive outlets and 17 direct branch locations catering to markets across the country.
The new range of noteÂbooks unveiled today incluÂdes five models, which range from Rs 69,990 to Rs 1, 22,900.
