Sony India has unveiled a new range of personal digital storage devices. Sony
Micro Vault USB2.0 mini-version, according to the company release, is the ideal
USB storage media for professional and home PC users. It is only half the size
of the standard micro vault model. Weighing only 12 grams, MV offers a more
convenient way of storing, sharing and trans-porting data. The micro vault also
comes equipped with three new user-friendly software, namely, the AutoZip, PC
Lock and AutoLogin. The AutoZip allows users to fully utilize the capacity of
the micro vault by reducing the size of files. The ‘PCLock application
prevents the theft of important data from the users’ PC by locking the
computer like a key. After ‘PCLock’, both the keyboard and mouse will be
made invalid to limit usage. The AutoLogin application automatically enters IDs
and passwords from a database created on the micro vault to websites.

"Micro Vault USB2.0 MV continues the Sony tradition of compact, stylish
design, user-friendly technology and ability to deliver high-performance storage
capabilities. Though we have shrunk the size of the new Micro Vault USB2.0 MV by
almost 50 percent, it continues to provide consumers with up to 256MB capacity
to store and easily transport their digital creations," said Steven NG,
Head (Recording Media & Energy Division), Sony India Pvt Ltd. He further
explained, "While the standard standard-size Micro Vault USB2.0 rem-ains a
popular choice, at Sony, we want to give consumers the ability to enjoy the
luxury of possessing one of Sony’s most compact ‘Plug ’n’ Play’
digital storage media to fit their own individual lifestyle."

Business executives will be able to transport all their busi-ness documents
in a light-weight and compact ‘gadget’. Students can also transport their
project presentations to and from school without worrying about document size.
The new Micro Vault USB2.0 MV contains the high-speed USB technology to give
users, data transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps. It also comes equipp-ed with a USB
docking station that is designed for the conve-nience of desktop users. With the
USB docking station, desk-top users will no longer need to reach to the back of
their USB-enabled desktop for the USB ports as the docking stat-ion can be
placed conveniently within reach. The company expects to sell 6000 micro vaults
this year and it would be available at Sony Worlds.
