In keeping with Sony’s tradition to provide consumers with high performance
options in personal digital storage solutions, Sony India has launched its new
range of mini MV without cradle USB2.0 and added new capacity of 512 MB to its
popular range of personal digital storage devices.
Sony Micro Vault, according to the company release, is the ideal USB storage
media for professional and home PC users. Small yet power-packed for easy
storage and transfer of large data files such as Power Point presentations, MPEG
movies, MP3 music, PDF and JPEG images.
Harnessing the latest state-of-the-art technology, the stylish Micro Vault
USB2.0 mini-version is only half the size of the standard micro vault model.
Weighing 12 grams, MV offers a more convenient way of storing, sharing and
transporting data. The micro vault also comes equipped with three new
user-friendly software, namely, the AutoZip, PC Lock and AutoLogin.
"Micro Vault USB2.0 Mini-Version continues the Sony tradition of
compact, stylish design, user-friendly technology and ability to deliver
high-performance storage capabilities. Though we have shrunk the size of the new
Micro Vault USB2.0 Mini-Version by almost 50 percent, it continues to provide
consumers with up to 256MB capacity to store and easily transport their digital
creations," said Steven NG, Head (Recording Media & Energy Division),
Sony India Pvt Ltd. He further explained, "While the standard-size Micro
Vault USB2.0 remains a popular choice, at Sony, we want to give consumers the
ability to enjoy the luxury of possessing one of Sony’s most compact ‘Plug
’n’ Play’ digital storage media to fit their own individual
lifestyle."
The users of this product have more reasons to transport their digital
creations and documents. Business executives can travel in style as the large
storage capacity means that they will be able to transport all their business
documents in a lightweight and compact ‘gadget’. Students can also transport
their project presentations to and from school without worrying about document
size. The new Micro Vault USB2.0 mini-version continues to employ the high-speed
USB technology to give users data transfer speeds of up to 480Mbps, which is
faster than the IEEE (Firewire) technology that transports data at 400Mbps.
It also comes equipped with a USB docking station that is designed for the
convenience of desktop users. With the USB docking station, desktop users will
no longer need to reach to the back of their USB-enabled desktop for the USB
ports as the docking station can be placed conveniently within reach.
Besides the ‘Password Lock’ application, Sony features another three new
user-friendly application software designed to offer Micro Vault users even
greater convenience and security of stored information. This includes, the ‘AutoZip’
which is a convenient application that allows users to fully utilize the
capacity of the micro vault by greatly reducing the size of files. A special
folder called ‘zip’ will be created using this software supplied and all the
files moved from the computer into the ‘zip’ folder will be automatically
compressed into ‘zip’ files. When dragged out of the folder, the files
return to its original format.
The ‘PCLock’ application prevents the theft of impor-tant data from the
users’ PC by locking the computer like a key. After ‘PCLock’, both the
keyboard and mouse will be made invalid to limit usage. The ‘Auto-Login’
application automa-tically enters IDs and pass-words from a database created on
the micro vault to websites.
These three new application software are also made available to current Micro
Vault customers who can simply download them from the Sony Micro Vault website
at www.sonyindia.co.in, under the ‘drivers and FAQ’ link. This software is
compatible with Windows ME, 2000 and XP only. (Not compatible with Windows 98/
98SE)
The micro-vault mini-version also continues Sony’s tradition of delivering
high technology and style. The product line is color-coded according to storage
capacity, including 32MB (red), 64MB (blue), 128MB (silver) and 256MB models
(dark grey). Its sleek contours and slim profile guarantees a good match with
any modern design notebook and desktop computer.
According to Steven, "Sony Micro Vault is highly regarded for its
high-performance and user-friendliness as a portable storage device." The
demand for Sony’s micro vault has been tremendous since we launched the first
micro vault in India. Considering the growing storage requirements, the Micro
Vault USB2.0 has the potential to be a ubiquitous must-have computer
accessory," added Steven. The company expects to sell 6000 micro vaults
this year and it would be available at all official Sony dealers and Sony
Worlds.
