Sony has launched a Micro Vault storage media about the length of a car key and the thickness of a highlighter pen. Sony's new Micro Vault storage media plugs into any USB-enabled computer. Users don't need power cables, adapters, disks or even driver software for Win 2000 and above to exchange data between computers. Sony's Micro Vault is available in four models with color-coded storage capacities - 16 MB (Orange), 32 MB (Red), 64 MB (Blue) and 128 MB (Black).
Whether users are transferring files from their office while at home or in flight, they simply have to plug the ingenious little Micro Vault into the USB Port on their PC or Mac. With a range of storage capacities up to 128 MB, Micro Vaults allows users to download and store everything from video clips, personal audio files and multimedia right up to high-resolution graphic presentations.
The Micro Vault does not require software drivers when used with Windows 2000, ME, XP and Mac OS 9.0 and higher.
The Micro Vault comes with Sony's new 'Security Zone software', which users you to create a 'security zone' on the device.
Data within this zone is password-protected, ensuring privacy of files when the Micro Vault device is shared with others or if it is ever misplaced. The Micro Vault is a flash memory device and takes 1 second to write 1.5 MB of mixed text files proving fast enough for everyday use.
