Sony Ericsson has an nounced thelaunch of its Walkman series mobiles in the
Indian market with the Sony Ericsson W800i. The phone comes with an external
detachable 512 MB (0.5 MB) memory stick, which can store upto 128 songs.
Users also have the flexibility of using memory chips of upto two GB, which
can store upto 500 songs. Disc2Phone PC software is also being provided to
enable transfers of music CDs onto the phone via a PC.
The W800i offers a battery life of 30 hours of music playback and is
available at a price of Rs 24,995. It also features a dedicated music button, a
direct media player button and a music control.
Speaking at the launch Sudhin Mathur, GM, Sony Ericsson, India said,
"The W800i also comes with a 2.0 megapixel camera and is targeted at
consumers who are the early adopters of new technologies."
Sony Ericsson would also be launching another phone in the Walkman series the
W550i by the fourth quarter of this calendar year to supplement the W800i. The
W550i is expected to be priced in the sub Rs 20,000 range and would come with a
1.3 megapixel camera and 256MB of storage.
