Sony appoints Rashi distributor for storage products

Sony Electronics (Singapore) has appointed Mumbai-based Rashi Peripherals as its distributor for its storage range of products. Rashi Peripherals has presence in over 22 cities with a total channel reach of 3200 spread across the country. Rashi has been handling Sony's storage products since October 2001.

Simultaneously Sony in collaboration with Rashi has launched a unique SAP (Sony Authorized Program) in India under which key, loyal, consistent and most importantly partners who add value to every Sony storage device product that they sell will be awarded SAP.

Sony has introduced a new generation of storage devices including CD writers, CD/DVD ROM and floppy disc drives for PCs. It has introduced 24X CD-RW by which one can write a CD within approximately four minutes. It also comes equipped with Sony's patented Power-Burn technology, which ensures error-free disk writing. These devices are compatible with Macintosh and Windows and other multimedia peripherals including digital and video cameras.

Speaking about the misconception that Sony products are high end and expensive, Shigeru Iwata, Assistant General Manager, Sony Electronics, (Singapore) said, "We are committed to providing OEMs and systems integrators with an economical solution for building competitively priced PCs targeted at value-conscious consumers and businesses".

Rashi Peripherals has a total turnover of Rs 119 crore and distributes major global brands like Logitech, ASUS, Prolink, Acer, Jetway and Cnet. IT also has its own PC branded as RP Tech manufactured out of its facility in Daman.
