3D mechanical design software company SolidWorks has announced that it has
sold the 300,000th license to Texas Instruments Sensors and Controls. Announcing
this at the SolidWorks World Conference, its CEO John McEleney said that
SolidWorks had sold it latest 100,000 licenses in 16 months – 33 percent
faster than it took to sell the previous 100,000.
Added McEleney, "Our aim is to empower designers and engineers with our
products so that they spend more time on designing and less time learning the
software."
The company expects the next 300,000 users to join the SolidWorks community
more quickly than the first as more companies discover the value of designing in
three dimensions while harnessing the ease of use, power, and advantages of
SolidWorks.
The SolidWorks World Conference marked the celebration of the anniversary of
integrating the company’s COSMOS analysis software products with its 3D
mechanical design software.
McEleney revealed at the conference, attended by over 1,200 users, partners
and employees, that engineers and designers configured or downloaded more than
1.6 million product models using the company’s 3D PartStream.NET service in
2003.
The other service of Solidworks, 3D Content Central, also proved to be
popular with more than 50,000 users registering for it.
