Smartpower UPS manufacturing facility opens in Baranagar

Smartpower Techno-logies has set up an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS)
manufacturing facility in Baranagar, Kolkata. Christened Electronics Hard-ware
Technology Park (EHTP), the facility was inaugurated by West Bengal IT Minister,
Mana-bendra Mukherjee. At this unit, the company will manu-facture offline UPS
Systems for OEMs. "We aim to capture another 10 per cent market share in
Eastern India," said Rajiv K Poddar, Director, Sma-rtpower Technologies.
Poddar has a company Computer Center which already manufa-ctures Uninterrupted
Power Supply (UPS) systems under Smartpower brand and has 12 per cent market
share in offline UPS Systems (capacity 500VA to 3 KVA) in East India.

"Now, we have tied-up a technical collaboration with Taiwan-based UMART
Techno-logies to manufacture online UPS Systems up to 40KVA under SKD/CKD,"
informed Poddar. He also added that if the government policy is supportive, then
the facility can be extended to manufa-cture other products as well.
