Infosystems as
its master distributors for the value added distribution.
Speaking exclusively to
The DQWeek, Sanjiv Pande, MD, India and South Asia, SMART
Technologies said, “We appointed HCL Infosystems in November 2010.
Prior to appointing HCL, we were having a distribution pact (from
2004-2010) with a Dubai-based distributor for multiple countries
including India. However, its focus towards the Indian market was
quite limited; that is why we decided to add India-centric
distributors.”
Commenting more on the
tie-up, Pande said, “HCL not only provides stock but also last mile
support including billing, installation and service support. As of
now, 220 tier-2 partners of HCL are selling our interactive boards to
4 main focused segments including education, higher education,
corporate and government. In a span of 7-8 months, we have sold close
to 8,000 units of white interactive boards across all the 4
segments.”
Going further, the company
will be leveraging on HCL's IT and non-IT channel partners for
positioning of products. Moreover, the vendor is looking at
educational solution providers and content providers for its growth.
The company looks at the education segments as its next growth engine
and aims revenue of around 90%, coming from this segment. Already top
private and higher educational institutes like DPS, Chennai Public
School, DAV Public School-North and South, IIT Kanpur, IIT Chennai,
IIT Bengaluru and many more have deployed the solution.
The company has also
launched for the first time a white board in India which is full
touchscreen. SMART launched its 400, 600 and 800 series SMART Board
interactive whiteboard line in India. "These boards can work for
classroom, distance and remote education systems. We believe that
these end-to-end education solutions will further strengthen our
commitment to India," Pande added.
