Siliguri Computer Fair 2006, the biggest IT exhibition in
North Bengal and Sikkim was held recently. The four-day mega exhibition was
organized by Kaleidoscope at the Kanchanjunga Stadium Mela Ground, Siliguri.
The event witnessed a total of about 50,000 footfall in
four days. The annual fair was started four years back with a handful of
participants. It is considered to be the most impressive technology trade show
in the region. This year there were about 48 participants and a total of 89
stalls. “The figures reflect the growing demand of the industry for a
marketing platform that allows exhibitors to enjoy a more frequent and target
audience for different selling occasions,” opined Dipak Saha, Managing Partner
of Kaleidoscope, organizer of the fair.

The event was attended by representatives from the
technology, broadcasting, cable, content, engineering, educational and numerous
other industries who converged in Siliguri. For the end user the exhibition was
an opportunity to view latest products and trends in information technology,
computer, networking, accessories, emerging technology, home networking, home
theater, mobile electronics, video and wireless.
An unofficial estimate of the total transaction of the fair
was about Rs 1 crore. Another positive indicator for the fair is the number of
participants who come here every year. Companies like Epson, Canon, LG, D-Link,
Tech-com and HP have been regular participators. The main sponsor of the fair
was Chirag, while Tech-com and Isyn were associate sponsors. The DQ Week was the
official media partner of the event. Among the top local channel partners who
participated in the event were Placewell Systems, Universal Computer, Logic
Fusion, Technocrat Infotech, Digital Infotech and North Bengal Computers.
