Silicon Valley like Technology Innovation Zone (TIZ)  to come up at the Kinfra Hi-tech Park in Kalamassery. The project will take  2 years to finish.

Delivering the welcome address at the launch of the first phase of TIZ, Principal IT secretary P.H. Kurian said that the architecture plan for turning the entire 13.2 acres into a start-up hub has been finalized.

He said that the plan for the second building would be finalized and the construction would be launched this financial year itself. The new entrepreneurship and innovation policy set to come up for the consideration of the cabinet shortly would serve as a blueprint for promoting innovative and entrepreneurial culture in the state.

Incubation centers suitable to regions would be set up while universities and engineering colleges would have incubation based on their subjects thus retaining youngsters in the state and transforming them into job creators.

Kurian said that 10,000 sq.ft being made available now is just an intermediate step necessitated by the influx of youngsters with innovative ideas. “Many are waiting for the space and are now being incubated virtually. Kurian urged the PWD minister V.K. Ibrahim Kunju to extend the Seaport-Airport road to provide direct access to TIZ from the airport to without which the facility would not be able to fulfill its purpose.

In his presidential address, Kunju said that the work to make the Seaport-Airport Road up to Kalamassery four lanes would be completed in a few weeks. Two bridges being built across Periyar for facilitating the extension of the road would be complete in a few months.

Despite the government’s financial crisis, Rs. 100 crore has been identified for acquiring land for the first phase of the extension from Kalamassery to NAD.

Acquisition would start soon while tender formalities would also be completed. Land acquisition for the second phase of extension would also be launched shortly.
