Sify launches online pool tournament

I-way, the cyber café chain of Satyam Infoway, an Internet, networks and e-commerce company, has launched the 'I-way Pool Blast', hailed as India's first national online pool tournament. The tournament will be held online from all the 680 I-ways across 10 cities - Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Cochin, Pune, Lucknow, Chandigarh and

Kolkata.

Endorsed by billiards and snooker champion Geet Sethi, the tournament will see him at select I-ways to encourage and cheer on the semi-finalists and finalists. He will also give away the prizes to the winners of the tournament. The prizes for the winners include a trip for two to Singapore, music systems, mobile phones and more. 

To participate in the tournament, all a browser needs to do is to walk into any I-way, pay Rs 10 as registration fees and play online. Players gain and lose points as they win or lose matches against other online players. The tournament will last for 21 days during which they have to collect as many points as they can. There will be a qualifying score to be achieved, to be entering the knockout stage. The top players (ranked by score) will play in a series of knockout matches until the final National Online Pool Champion emerges.
