Secunderabad-based Shweta Group of companies, having six outfits in the
twin-city, is targeting a turnover of Rs 500 crore by this year. The comp-any
claims to have achieved a turnover of Rs 350 crore in the last fiscal, thanks to
the booming laptop business and its retail focus. “Going for-ward, we are
planning to focus mainly on mobility solutions and Shweta will open a chain of
showrooms for mobile han-dsets. Cell phones are creating a revolution in the
country and we want to ride on the wave,” said Govind Gupta, Director, Shweta
Group.
On the IT retail front, the company is planning to open two more shops
shortly. “Pres-ently, we have six showrooms in the city and the new stores are
planned in Banjara Hills and hi-tech city,” he informed.
Last year, the company made a record business with notebooks, selling on an
average 300 machines per month. Acer, Lenovo, LG and Sony are some of the
leading brands which contributed for the growth. “We created a laptop corner
at every show-room and the company made significant investment in roadshows,
campaigns and other promotional activities, which created the necessary pull in
business. Overall, our bet on branded products paid-off well,” pointed out
Gupta. Shweta Group concentrates mainly on end-user business, while the channel
component is just 25 percent.
The company is also creat-ing a new division (value business) within the
organization, primarily to focus on solutions and services. It is setting up an
office with 5,000 sq ft of floor space in CTC Secunderabad, exclusively to focus
on networking business. “We will try to offer all brands and provide
end-to-end solut-ion in business,” he quipped.
Shweta has one showroom for mobile handsets and sells only LG products here.
“We sell more than 3,000 LG handsets per month and the twin-city has a
potential of up to one lakh units per month. So, we want to tap the opportunity
by opening a chain of stores for mobile phones and the next showroom is coming
up near Paradise Circle. We will market all brands here, both GSM and CDMA
instruments. By the end of this year, we will have six showrooms in the city,”
he added.
