Angry over Lenovo’s lack of commitment in honoring ‘claims’, Shimla IT Dealers recently boycotted its outreach program held on June 9 in hotel Radisson Blu.
Agitated over the problem, Jayant Kumar, president Shimla IT Dealers Association sent a message to his fellow members: “This is to inform you [that] Lenovo has appointed another RD for Himachal without clearing claims with the previous one, without taking NOC from the previous RD. As a protest, we are boycotting today’s lenovo meet at Raddison.”
Lenovo appointed Computer Paradise as regional distributor in this region. The problem started when Rajat Goel of Computer Paradise was promised by local sales officials of Lenovo of ‘claims’ after reaching a certain target. Some of the commitments made by Lenovo were on records and some were verbal.
However, after reaching a target, much to Goel’s disappointment the company did not honor it.
Even Kumar vetted the commitments and said: “As some commitments were verbal there is no record and we don’t contest that. The rest have written proof sent by company’s mail id.”
The scenario turned sour when Lenovo appointed another regional distributor without informing Goel or settling his claims.
After the boycott, there has been some action. Kumar says that the company is reviewing it and has promised to get back.
