This complex, with over 500 software development work stations, is fully integrated with modern computers, electronic mail, Internet, video conferencing and direct inward dial facilities. The state-of-the-art data center is designed to host mission critical servers for 24x7 operations and common development services.

The Local Area Network connects all desktops at 100 MBPS speed and routing is through L3 switches. Speaking on the occasion, Dixit congratulated NIIT for having built a world class software facility in Delhi, its 6th distributed software development center, to create software for global customers. Rajendra S Pawar, Chairman, NIIT said, "NIIT, one of the most trusted brand-names in IT, is today unfolding a new dimension of creating distributed software factories in Delhi."

This initiative of NIIT supports the state on several counts. Firstly unlike the conventional factories, software complexes are non-polluting. Secondly, creation of software facilities in different parts of the city is ideally suited for the capital city state, which does not have centrally located large stretches of land allocated exclusively for high tech IT parks. Thirdly, with the pioneering role of organizations like NIIT and active support of the government, Delhi could aspire to be the knowledge state.

Pawar has added that 62 of the top 700 Indian software companies were headquartered in Delhi. World-class and world-scale facilities like NIIT's fuel Delhi's potential to enhance its share in the Rs 17,150 crore Indian software industry.

The new software exports facility is expected to serve as a springboard for NIIT in achieving its global ambition of reaching Rs 10,000 crores revenue by the second half of this decade. For this, NIIT will need to proliferate software factories in neighbourhood, just as it has set up several learning centers. Arvind Thakur, Director and President,  (Global Software Business), NIIT said that the new software complex equipped with high-speed communication links would facilitate global customers to communicate effectively. He said that in addition to providing the most modern facilities, special care has been taken to create an ambience that is creatively stimulating. The new air-conditioned complex has well-equipped library and conference rooms for developers. The 24-hour cafeteria is spread over three levels. The facility has a computer-based Building Management System (BMS), which combines the latest technology with simple operating techniques to control, manage alarms and monitor building services like Electricity, Air-conditioning, UPS, access control system installations.

Thakur added that while India had established an impeccable reputation for high quality software it needed to make a strategic shift to high expertise and high value-add areas. He said that NIIT's global software customers had set new challenges for NIIT to be at the cutting edge of the software technology.
