Select Tech to develop special channels

Bangalore-based Select Technologies, a fast growing distribution company with a branch office in Chennai, is in the process of developing special channel communities here for marketing leased line modems and security solutions. The company is planning to appoint 10 channel partners for leased line modem business activity and an equal number for security solution providing. "We are already working very closely with few companies here who will be announced as our channel partners shortly," said Ashok Dash, Branch Manager, Select Technologies. The company is also doubling up its all India channel strength from present 350 to 700 before end of this fiscal.

"Chennai Datacom, Syzpro Systems, Ciscom Communications, Rans Brainwave and a few other companies are in the probable list to be appointed for promoting leased line solutions in the market," said Dash. Veeras Infotek, SNS, Sowswe Compunication and Skylark are likely to join the security solutions brigade.

Select Technologies will now emphasize more on providing leased line solutions and security services in business, besides pushing dial-up, ISDN and networking products. "There are only very few serious players in this area (leased line and security solutions) and huge business opportunity lies here," he quipped.

In this regard, recently, the company has tied-up with Israel-based CheckPoint for e-Security solutions (firewall and VPN software) and Nokia for hardware products. In Nokia, the company presents both IP series and CC series, offering wide choice to the buyers. "We are considering tying-up with OPSEC (Open Security Platform) partners being listed by CheckPoint for providing value-added service to the customers," said Dash.

The company is also planning to launch Ace high-end networking products and routing solutions in the market this fiscal. It would launch Layer 3 switches, Gigabit solution and routing solution from Ace fleet. "We are sole distributor for Ace in India and APAC region since February 2000," added Dash.

This year, Select Technologies is opening branch offices in Pune and Ahmedabad, to make its presence in nine cities across the country. The company has clocked a turnover of Rs 10 crore in the last fiscal (which is company's first year in business) and targets Rs 35 crore in the current fiscal. "We are confident of doing it and already we have done 50 percent of the target till now," he added.
