Seagate opens office in India

Seagate, providers of Internet Infrastructure storage technology, has opened its first office in India at New Delhi. The new office would deal in business development, customer support and marketing activities. The office will be located at the International Trade Tower, Nehru Place, New Delhi.

Sharad Srivastava, Seagate's Country Manager for India will head the office and lead the business development management, field application engineering and administrative staff.

The vice-president, Asia Pacific, Sales and Marketing, Don Kennedy said, as the need for storage expanded beyond the traditional PC market into emerging markets like Consumer Electronics (CE), Storage Area Networking (SAN) and server appliances, Seagate has continued to move forward to take advantage of these opportunities.

He also said that Seagate is by far the leading provider of Storage solutions in India and according to IDC report, Seagate is the market-share leader with 70 percent of the Indian disc drive market.

Kennedy said that in future the new applications of Seagate's for HDD storage would be Personal Video recorders, Internet caching, audio jukeboxes and automotive.
