Seagate launches 11 new products worldwide

Seagate has introduced 11 new products in its storage kitty in a worldwide
launch. Informing this Sharad Sriva-stava, Country Manager, Sea-gate India,
added, "We have launched these products acr-oss three divisions–Consu-mer
Electronics Storage, Per-sonal Storage and Enterprise Storage." He further
added that through this, Seagate plans to address 95 percent of the total
available market, though he was unable to give specific cut out for Seagate
India. At the launch it also announced the introduction of Seagate’s first
one-inch drive–ST1 series.

Under Consumer Electro-nics Storage, the company announced the launch of DB35
series, ST1 and one-inch CF Type II for DVR, hand-held and photography
respe-ctively. In the Personal Sto-rage category, the company has Barracuda
7200.8 (PC, nearline), Mometus 7200.1 (notebook), one-inch exter-nal (pocket
external), 2.5-inch external (portable external) and 3.5-inch external (desk-top
external). Lastly, in the Enterprise Storage segment, Seagate will offer Savvio
10k.1 (high I/density), Chee-tah 15k.4 (network and ser-ver), Seagate NL35
series (ne-arline), Cheetah 10k.7 (net-work and server) and Barracuda 7200.8
(entry PC server).

According to Srivastava there are opportunities galore for HDD’s in
handheld, gaming, DVR, notebook, desktop and enterprise. The products will be
available in India in Q3 and Q4.
