Seagate has announced that it will be offering Indian buyers an option of
purchasing entry-level Seagate personal storage products with three years
warranty. The new warranty service that comes into effect from May 20, 2004.
According to the press release, the entry level Barracuda range of hard
drives, which carry a standard one-year warranty, can now be purchased with a
three-years warranty option at an additional cost of Rs 150. Seagate currently
offers three years warranty support on 120GB and higher capacity Barracuda
drives in the personal storage product category and five years warranty support
on its Cheetah family of enterprise storage products.
Talking about the success of the SeaCare centers Sharad Srivastava, Country
Manager, Seagate India, said that with the introduction of the Web-based
warranty authorization facility Seagate users would be able to deal directly
with the 32 SeaCare centers, thereby reducing the turnaround time.
