Seagate expands its consumer electronics line

Seagate Technology has announced the expansion of its line of consumer
elecctronics hard disk drives while unveiling a 5 GB one inch hard drive for
hand-held applica-tions, a new 400GB hard drive for DVR (digital video recor-der),
home entertain-ment systems and a 5 GB one-inch Com-pact Flash external hard
drive to give consumers up to 5,000 MB of storage for digital cameras.

Company officials claimed that with the new Seagate ST1 Ser-ies-the industry's
first one inch hard drive to offer 2.5GB and 5GB capacities, consumers can now
download larger libraries of higher-fidelity music to pocket players and its new
unique RunOn technology is capable to eliminate music skipping caused by
interference from jogging or walking motions.

The Seagate ST1 Series can hold up to 90 hours of high-quality music files
(128 Mbytes) and its time-to-ready is 2.5 seconds or less. As per company
release the ST1 Series drives are also compatible with all forms of digital
media. The new Seagate Com-pact Flash Photo Hard Drive offers 2,500 MB and 5,000
MB of capa-city for digital cameras in a one-inch size.

The new Seagate DB35 Series hard drive with 400GB capacity providing huge
scope for digital video entertainment, enabling new tele-vision services such as
video on demand, high-definition DVRs, and home media centers. The DB35 Series
drive delivers up to 10 simultan-eous streams of TV and Seagate's uni-que new
DVR toolkit to let manufacturers custom-tune the drive for optimal DVR
performance. The Seagate DB35 Series drive is also available as a customiza-ble
external DVR storage solution enabling DVR makers and cable and satellite TV
service providers to offer viewers more room to store programs.
