In an attempt to increase its current revenue from the small and mid-sized business (SMB) segment to 20 percent in India, SAP has announced the launch of micro-vertical standard configured solutions specifically for the segment.

The company claims that this all-in-one industry specific version of mySAP solution is capable of delivering easy and high rate of scalability to meet current and future challenges. It comes with built-in content, tools and methodologies and brings in best practices for the SMB sector that could save up to 40 percent of time and almost 30 percent costs as compared to a conventional set of solutions.

According to Srinivas Rao, Head, (SMB business unit), SAP India, the new solution would be offered through a network of professional partners in specific vertical segments such as pharmaceuticals, chemical, automotive and consumer products, to name a few. Also, SAP and its partners aim at address all areas including software, hardware, and implementation and support services together as a one-stop solution for the customers.

Our present market share, defines the rate of success that we have brought for our customers in the SMB business," Rao said. He further added that the renewed focus in the sector, would help SAP become the number one solution provider for the SMB segment in Asia Pacific region by 2005; with a promise of low TCO and high rate of installations. The company also plans to double its head count and expand the partner base in India.
