Samsung Electronics India Information and Telecom Ltd (SEIIT) has announced the launch of an exciting new Gold Coin scheme for its channel partners on the purchases in June-July, 2001. This scheme is applicable to resellers buying from Preferred Printer Dealers.
Samsung had recently identified select partners in every city who would be supported by Samsung in their attempt to aggressively promote laser printers. Ranging from one to six per city, the number was deliberately limited to ensure healthy margins for all. These select partners have been christened as 'Preferred Printer Dealers'
(PPDs).
Resellers get a five gram gold coin on purchase of every three Samsung lasers from the PPDs. And they get a 10 gram gold coin on purchase of every five Samsung lasers. However, one printer has to be a ML 5200A or a ML 6060.
This is an attempt by Samsung to tap the reseller segment that plays a large role in selling to the SME/SOHO segments. It also shows a tangible benefit of being a Samsung PPD as sales would be routed through these chosen few only. Elaborated Moninder N Jain, Country Product Manager, Samsung, "Though the gold coins are only for resellers, the PPDs are automatically motivated as a special status is being accorded to them-all promotional ads and communications would carry their names."
The Samsung laser printer range comprises of entry level-ML 4600 (8ppm), ML 5200A (10ppm), ML 1210 (12ppm), ML 1220M (12ppm), ML 1250 (12ppm); Professional-ML 6060N (12ppm Network), ML 6060S (12ppm Postscript); Network-ML 1651N (16ppm), ML 7300N (21ppm); and Multifunction-SF 3100P, SF 5100P. It is also planning to launch Bluetooth and color lasers by January next year.
