Samsung launches 'build ur PC'

Samsung Electronics India Information and Telecom Ltd (SEIIT), the IT and Telecom subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co Korea; has announced the launch of PCs under the 'buildURpc' brand. 

SEIIT, with its current portfolio, contributes to over 70 percent of a PC and this launch underlines its position as a 'PC Essentials Company'.

This initiative is a commercial extension of Samsung's K2C (Knowledge-2-Customer) site called 'where a customer is empowered to build a PC to suit his needs. These PCs will be assembled by and available through SEIIT's large excise registered system integrators called 'Samsung Authorized SIs

(SASIs)'.

'Samsung buildurPC' gives flexiblility, quality assurance and aesthetics to its customers. Samsung is providing PC Kits to its assembler and distributor partners and the PCs are built customized to the needs of customers within a flexible budget limit.


The customers will also have an option of configuring and buying via the website

www.buildurpc.com.

The company also announced the setting up of a nationwide network of call centers for customers with the # 9622010101. In order to promote the PCs, the company is tying up with financial institutions for financing schemes and will also be investing over 1 million USD in educating the market for its buildURpc.com project.

Speaking on the occasion, JS Jong, Executive Director, SEIIT stated, "This industry-first initiative by us will give a different dimension to PC buying in the country because now our customers can get a Samsung powered PC which suits the individual's professional/ family needs."

He further added, "Most existing players in the PC market have concentrated only on price or configuration as a selling point. In the bargain, the industry has lost out on an opportunity to concentrate on educating the consumer. Today, most home users just use it for mailing or Web surfing. But, a PC can offer much more value that this. It can be your home theater, your home office, your music station, your child's (and yours) learning tool. This is a universal message and will help in telling people in all areas as to why a PC is the key to a great present and a wonderful future."

The assembling at partner's premises (commenced at eight locations presently) will be under strict quality control norms monitored by Samsung. The company plans to go national with this product by year-end 2002.
