Samsung Electronics India has announced the "Turbo Upgrade Offer", Indian
IT industry's first ever PC upgrade offer across the Critical components of Monitors/ Hard Disk Drives and Optical Disk Drives. An investment of Rs 5 crore is planned in an Awareness Building Program which would enable the consumer to upgrade their PC and boost PC performance.
This offer, running all across the country would offer the consumer to exchange their older Samsung Hard Disk Drives, CD ROMs and Monitors with the latest models at a very special price. 'Turbo Upgrade Program' is valid from March 13 till
March 31, 2003.
"The PC market is very amenable to upgrades this year. The established base of PC Users in India has crossed the eight million mark, out of which 50 percent have PCs more than two years old. Most of these OLDER PCs have 14" Monitors, less than 4GB HDDs and 48X or less CDROM Drives. Since these are not the components for an Ideal PC experience, there is a definite consumer need of upgrading the PC to the latest technologies like 17" monitors, 40Gb 7200rpm HDDS and 3 in 1 COMBO Drives (Drives which can play CDs and DVDs as well as Write CDS). There is a clear opportunity here.
According to our internal research. Home buyers prefer to upgrade their PCs instead of buying new ones. Corporates are also looking at a cost effective way to Improve performance of existing infrastructure-and are also a good target segment of March", said Moninder N Jain, National Marketing Head.
The company is confident that this offer will make India reflect the worldwide PC technology adoption trends with grater penetration of 17" monitors, 7200rpm HDDs and CDRW-CONBO Drives.
