RS Software opens SDC in Chennai

Kolkata-based RS Software (India), a software solution provider in financial service, health care and retail segment, has inaugurated its new software development facility at Tidel Park in
Chennai.

The company is investing Rs 2.5 crore in the 16,000 sq ft SDC at Tidel, and would recruit 120 software professionals in phased manner. "Our Chennai facility will be focussing mainly on web technologies and web-enabling applications in finance, health care and retail sector," said Raj Jain, Managing Director, RS Software (India) Limited.

The company, a 100 percent export oriented unit (EOU), hopes to get some off-load jobs from IBM UK and VISA UK through offshore arrangements (ODC) for its Chennai facility, besides providing service for its other projects.

Also, RS Software has planned to open a dedicated facility in Pune for its client that is in the financial segment. "However, we are not in a position to disclose the company name now," said M Selvapandian, the COO for the Chennai Unit.

Recently, the company has achieved P-CMM Level 3 certification and it's the second software company in India to get that position. "Only five companies across the world have achieved this," he said. 

In India, the Chennai facility is the second development center for the company outside Kolkata and it has 60,000 sq ft development space (totally in four places) in Kolkata. "Our major business, close to 90 percent, comes from the US, while Europe contributes around 10 percent," said
Selvapandian.

In the coming years, RS Software would be building a strong team and develop core expertise to leverage its business process in the Europe market. "We see a huge business potential in these countries and planning to open a development center in UK, where we have our subsidiary office," he said. The company plans also to enter newer markets such as Japan, Australia and Singapore, in the next financial year.

The company had a turnover of Rs 67 crore last fiscal and projects a turnover of Rs 110 crore in the current fiscal.
