The short supply of the Apple iPhone 5s against the bookings is widely reported but the channel partners say to hold on as it is very early to comment.
As per the estimates around 30,000 units of iPhone 5s and 5c were supplied to Indian market. Out of those 6000 were 5s variants and 200 being the gold version. In the Indian market Apple iPhone 5s is priced between Rs 53,500 and Rs 71,500, varying from specs of the phone, while iPhone 5c is priced at Rs 41,900 (16 GB) and Rs 53,500 (32 GB).
Delhi-based Sunny Oberoi of Oberoi retails says it is a normal marketing trend to create hype in the market. He adds, "I got an advance order of 10 5s units and 8 were supplied. This is a normal course every time apple launches its product in India."
Kanti Memani of IT@Home from Chennai says it too short a time to comment whether the supply was short or not as after iPhone launch on 1st of November, three days were holiday.
He adds that even he received 16 gold iPhone 5s gold version orders but none was supplied. At the same he was sufficient number of 5s versions. He adds, "Only the gold version is not available in India, rest 5s versions are available. We also await new stocks, which will come in some days. "
Although he mentioned that there were no inquiries of 5c version of phones.
Lalit Kothari from Swetha Computers in Hyderabad also maintained that he got 10 units of iPhone 5s out of 20 orders.
However, Nasik based, Sanjay Chawla of San Computek says was aggrieved of the supplies. He said that he had 25 iPhone 5s bookings but was supplied only 5 units. He awaits fresh stocks of the phone.
