Reliance Info solution is plan-ning to set up its deve-lopment center, its
first outside Mumbai in West Bengal, which will have 2,500 people. Reliance
Group CMD Mukesh Ambani infor-med this while delivering the Keynote address at
Infocom 2004, the NASSCOM's 3rd Annual Event for the Eastern Region. The
company has so far invested Rs 1,000 crore in West Bengal.
Ambani also said that Relia-nce is also planning to set up its submarine
landing station in Haldia soon. "The company will also set up Dhirubhai
Ambani Institute Of Com-munication And Technology in Kolkata, second after the
center in Ahmedabad," he added.
Earlier in February 2004, Reliance had announced Rs 1,200 crore in planned
fresh funding in West Bengal, of which the infocom's share was Rs 800 crore.
The new infocom ventures included a 3,000-seat call centre in Salt Lake, an
Internet data centre, a media convergent note and a large software development
center. Two knowledge cen-tres for training are also on the offing.
