Reliance Jio last week announced a new offer called ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ for customers who hadn’t been able to snag their ‘Summer Surprise’ scheme.
At the time, the company had stated that users needed to subscribe to Jio Prime “to avoid degradation or discontinuation of services.” Now, it seems that time has come.
Jio customers who did not subscribe for a Jio Prime membership, and haven’t purchased any of its special schemes are beginning to be disconnected from services, though it seems to be a gradual process and not all at once. If you’re a Jio customer but don’t have Prime membership you can still purchase it for Rs 99 at a retail store, on the website, or from the MyJio app, alongside the available recharges to avail of the ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ offer. For Rs 309, it offers customers three months of 1GB daily smartphone data, or 2GB daily 4G data under the Rs 509 recharge.
Reliance Jio had extended the last day to subscribe to Jio Prime from March 31 to April 15. However, the company currently seems to still be offering the service and offer schemes, though it’s unclear for how much longer.
In addition, Reliance Jio is now also offering customers special international calling tariffs. Customers can activate a special Rs 501 plan that allows calls to certain countries at Rs 3 per minute. These include the US, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, French Guinea, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Mongolia, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the UK. Calls to France, Pakistan, Israel, Japan, Argentina, Denmark and South Korea will be Rs 4.8 per minute under the same scheme.
