Reliance Jio Infocomm is rolling out mobile network and Wi-Fi hotspot services for free in Ahmadabad, Baroda and Surat regions of Gujarat. It will use multiple standards for its 4G data offering as well as varying technologies, including wireline services, the parent company said in its report for fiscal 2013-14 released Tuesday. "In addition to 4G wireless service. Reliance Jio is rolling out services in over 900 cities/towns."
"RJIL is committed on innovation, design and providing technologically advanced devices BSE 1.12 % at affordable prices. Reliance Jio is nearing closure of negotiations with device vendors. The company will provide voice services to and from non-Reliance Jio customers," the report added.
In February, RJIL had purchased airwaves for Rs 11,000 crore to offer 4G services in 14 circles. This is in addition to the all-India telecom airwaves it had bought in 2010.
According to the report, over 44% of the world's 4G services are deployed on the category of airwaves Reliance Jio has bought in the 1800MHz band. This is the band it intends to use for retail customers.
