Reliance and Citibank launch online mobile credit card payment solution

Reliance Infocomm and Citibank have unveiled an online mobile credit card

payment solution enabling direct payment from Reliance IndiaMobile handsets.

According to the company release, the first application to use this payment

mode is ‘RIM-Bill Payment’, a service that facilitates Reliance IndiaMobile

subscribers to pay their mobile bill at the touch of a mobile phone button from

the R World.

The solution works by setting up a secure connection over the air between a

Reliance IndiaMobile handset and the mobile payment gateway of Citibank. RIM

Bill Payment is a wireless data application under the R World suite of data

services available on Reliance IndiaMobile handsets.

Using the facility, customers can view billing details and make payment by

entering a personal four digit PIN for security and authentication. The service

also provides the facility to check details of the last transaction. All Visa,

MasterCard and Diners Club credit cards can be used for the transaction.

Citibank Credit card customers have a special inaugural privilege. All

Reliance bill payments made through the R World application with their Citibank

credit would earn double the reward points till March 31, 2004.
