Red Hat to expand India operations

Red Hat, provider of open source technologies including Linux, has announced its plans to expand its India operations with opening of offices in New Delhi and Bangalore. The company is also planning to open new training centers all across India.

Srinivas Garinela appointed as Senior Enterprise Sales manager, would look after the Delhi market while Rohit Rai appointed as Manager (Enterprise Sales) would oversee the Bangalore operations. A support center to cater to the needs of the government is also being set up.

Javed Tapia, Director (India), Red Hat, said, "Linux has now gone mainstream. Every enterprise and Government organization is looking at Linux as part of its IT strategy. Red Hat has spared no efforts to build the confidence of enterprises in Linux and the services model we follow. In just two years of its presence in India, Red Hat has developed every aspect of its market adoption strategy-support services, training, consulting and engineering and channel development-extremely successfully."

The company is planning to double the strength of its training centers from 50 to 100 by the end of this year. It also has plans to double its partner strength, which is currently 25. These training centers offer corporate training, regular courses and the Red Hat Certified Engineer 'Rapid Track Training' and Certification Course.

The company is also identifying more technology as well as distribution partners across India to support customers locally and would soon announce more relationships to drive the acceptance of Linux in the world. With the awareness and increase in the adoption of Linux in India, Red Hat has witnessed a 100 percent year-on-year growth.
