Red Hat, provider of open source solutions, has announ-ced the opening of its
sales and support office in Chen-nai. This office will address the growing
demand for Red Hat products and services in Tamil Nadu. The entire range of
products and services will be available to customers on a local basis. The new
office will support the existing Bangalore office. It will also provide support
to the exis-ting customer implemen-tations in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking on the occasion, Javed Tapia, Director, Red Hat India said, "We
started our office in Bangalore early this year to address the demand for our
products and services in Southern India. Since then, we have seen an increasing
trend in Linux usage and adoption in this part of the country.

The interest shown by Government and enterprises towards adoption of open
source and Linux solutions have encouraged us to set up a second office in
South." He further added. "India is a strategic market for Red Hat and
this is the third office we have added in less than a year. We now have our
presence in seven cities in India."
