Red Hat expands partner network

Red Hat India has announced the expansion of its channel partner network. In

the last quarter i.e. September-Nov 2004 Red Hat signed-up with nine chan-nel

partners in India and one in Bangladesh. This expansion is a direct implication

of the demand for Open Source and Linux software support service providers.

The 10 channel partners singed include Ockam Infotech Pvt Ltd-Mumbai, Blue

Chip Computers-Mumbai, Ritvi Information Technologies-Baroda, Q-Soft Systems

and Solutions Pvt Ltd-Bangalore, Login Infotech Pvt Ltd-Bangalore, Aditi

Computers Pvt Ltd-Delhi, Path Infotech Ltd-Delhi, Duckback Informa-tion

Systems Pvt Ltd-Kolkata, E-Solutions-Gauwhati and BASE Ltd-Bangladesh.

Red Hat India director Javed Tapia said, "India is emerging as one of

the biggest markets for Red Hat in APAC region. In India, Linux adoption is

gaining momentum across segme-nts-enterprise, government and education. This

adoption has catalyzed the increase in Red Hat's channel partner

network."

"With the addition of these partners we have established a significant

presence in tier1 cities. Now, we are looking at increasing our partner

prese-nce in tier 2 and tier 3 cities. " he added.

Red Hat recently orga-nized a 2-day channel par-tner empowerment program for

its channel partners across India. The objective of the channel partner

empo-werment program was to share the latest develop-ments in the open source

and Linux space in India, give them an update on Red Hat's road-map and equip

them with product, pre-sales and technical skills. Red Hat India has a

distribution network of over 50 channel partners spanning 19 cities across

India.
