In a bid to expand its
retail market, Mumbai-based Real Time Computer has tied up with href="https://www.dqweek.com/canon-to-open-100-brand-shops-in-2011">Canon
India. “Seeing a huge number of retail giants tapping the consumer
durable and IT hardware market, we are investing in retail-specific
strategies. According to market reports, the demand for technology
products is growing at a much faster rate in the newer non-metro
cities. As perthis retail expansion strategy, we would be focusing on
exclusively Canon's products,” said Ashwin Kukreja, CEO, Real
Time Computer.

Having joined hands
with Canon India, we will be tapping the western suburbs of Mumbai
with retail outlets. We have already opened Canon exclusive retail
stores in Lower Parel. We always have a good support from the
vendors,” said Kukreja. As per the marketing strategy, Real Time
Computer would be coming with another retail outlet in the Inorbit
Mall at Vashi in the second quarter of this fiscal. Also, according
to Kukreja, the distributor forays into distributing Canon cameras.
“This is because we find the imaging market booming and is slowly
becoming a consumer lifestyle market. Also, survey reports indicate
that the imaging market will rise by about 10% in this fi scal year,”
he said. With this business strategy, the distributor primarily
focuses on the end-users in the SMB segment. Also, its channel
strategy hinges on the promise of making technology more accessible
to SMBs.

Speaking about the
signifi
cance of channel partners and resellers in this venture, Kukreja
said, “ The retail outreach program is driven by increasing
consumer demand and is part of the company's commitment to the
Indian market, demonstrated through its market solutions and support
for channel partners. We have our own network of resellers and we
will expand it further in this fiscal year. And the channel model,
which is currently at 300, will increase by about 3 times by the end
of this year. We will also be training our partners on the marketing
strategies.” Currently, there are over 100 channel partners for
Real Time Computers.
