Two new institutes

Two new computer-training institutes have started working at
Jalandhar. Techvision started working having facilities of software development,
web designing and development and computer hardware. The unit also consists of a
well-equipped cyber café. In another event karROX technologies started their
centre at Model Town Jalandhar. karROX is a leading It training organization of
Maharashtra.

Govt agrees with students

Government of Punjab State has agreed and accepted some
demands of ITI students of state. Government has decided to continue grant,
scholarships, supply of raw material and stop shifting/closer of different ITI
colleges. Whereas, students are still on strike for some remaining demands.

Jalandhar DC office

Authorities are finalizing a deal with drishti.com, a private
website company for connecting the office with Internet. According to sources
the company has met Shiva Prashad, DC Jalandhar regarding the change. With this
step Jalandhar will become first district of State, connected to web. Under the
scheme different information centers will be established having facility to send
application to DC office against nominal charges. The center will forward the
matter to concerned department of DC office through net. This will make working
of office more effective and time saving.

Online cash counters

According to BSNL authorities, they will make all cash
counters and SDO offices of city online by 15th August. They also have a plan to
online complete district by March 2002. This step will facilitate to consumers
to make inquiry and payment of their bills anytime-anywhere.
