Ghatkopar-based Gandhi had cheated 11 channel partners in Pune of Rs 15 lakh worth of IT products. The culprit conducted a similar modus operandi in Baroda. BITA had sent circulars to its members because of which they were aware of the culprit and his mode of operation.

"Gandhi approached one of the channel partners for quotation just like he did in Pune. The channel partner contacted us immediately and we told him to continue the communication, as it would become easy to arrest him. The culprit had also taken up premises on rent in a prime locality, just like in Pune," pointed out Amit Shah, Secretary,
BITA.

A complaint was lodged at the JP police station and Gandhi was arrested. On checking his belongings the police just found four bags. Presently there is no trace of robbed material from Pune. Shah also added that they managed to save material worth Rs 5 to 6 lakh as Gandhi was arrested.

On contacting Mansoor AB of Pune-based Zenith PC World and also one of the affected parties, he said, "Amit Shah was really helpful in catching the culprit. In fact, now the Pune dealers and police have already planned to take custody of Vishal Gandhi. Within a day or two the technical procedures of the police must get over and the culprit should be here. Presently we don't have any knowledge on the robbed material."
